NeverL8 ("NeverL8", "we", "us") is a macOS application that displays full-screen reminders before your Google Calendar meetings. This policy explains exactly what data NeverL8 accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected. The short version: NeverL8 reads your calendar, read-only, solely to show you reminders on your own Mac. It has no server, and your calendar data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
No accounts, no backend. NeverL8 is a self-contained Mac app. There is no NeverL8 server, no NeverL8 database, and no NeverL8 login. Everything the app does happens locally on your computer.
Information NeverL8 accesses
When you choose to connect your Google account, NeverL8 requests the following Google API scopes:
- Read-only Google Calendar access
(
calendar.readonly) — to read your list of calendars and the events in them, so it can show you a reminder before each meeting. NeverL8 cannot create, edit, or delete anything on your calendar. - Your Google account email address
(
userinfo.emailandopenid) — only to display which account is connected in the app's settings.
From your calendar events, NeverL8 reads details such as the title, start and end times, description, location, video-conference link, and attendee response status — the information needed to remind you and to let you join with one click.
How NeverL8 uses this information
- To display full-screen reminders on your Mac before your meetings.
- To let you open a meeting's video link, snooze, mute, or dismiss a reminder.
- To let you choose which of your calendars to watch.
- To show the connected account's email address in Settings.
That is the entirety of how your Google data is used. NeverL8 does not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to showing you your own reminders.
Where your data is stored
- On your Mac only. Upcoming events are cached locally on your computer so reminders work reliably. This cache holds only a short look-ahead window and is continuously reconciled with Google.
- Your sign-in token is stored securely in the macOS Keychain so you don't have to reconnect constantly. It never leaves your Mac.
- NeverL8 communicates directly and only with Google's own APIs
(
accounts.google.comandgoogleapis.com) over an encrypted connection. There is no intermediary server.
What NeverL8 does not do
- It does not send your calendar or account data to us or to any third party.
- It does not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- It does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- It does not modify your calendar in any way.
Google API Services User Data Policy
NeverL8's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. NeverL8 uses Google user data only to provide and improve the app's reminder features to you, does not transfer or sell this data, and does not use it for advertising or to train generalized artificial-intelligence models.
Optional feedback you choose to send
If you use the app's "Send feedback" feature, it opens a Google Form in your browser. Submitting that form is entirely voluntary and may include:
- Your email address (if you provide it), so we can follow up.
- The app version and your macOS version (filled in automatically) to help diagnose issues.
- Optionally, a diagnostic log file that you attach yourself. This log can contain your event titles, so attaching it is your choice — you can submit feedback without it.
Feedback submissions are received via Google Forms and used only to fix bugs and improve NeverL8. They are never sold or shared.
Retaining and deleting your data
- Disconnect any time. In Settings → Account → Disconnect, NeverL8 deletes the stored sign-in token and clears the local event cache.
- Uninstalling NeverL8 removes the app and its local data from your Mac.
- Revoke access at Google. You can remove NeverL8's access to your account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Security
Sign-in uses Google's standard OAuth 2.0 flow with PKCE. Your access token is kept in the macOS Keychain, and all communication with Google happens over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because there is no NeverL8 server, there is no central store of user data to be breached.
Children
NeverL8 is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
